Ariel Gustavo Scafuri, MD, PhD, FACS, FECSM, IF, board-certified urologist and obstetrician-gynecologist and a full Professor of Anatomy at Federal University of Ceará, Medical School, Ceará, Brazil passed away due to complications from COVID-19.

Dr. Scafuri was recently elected Director-at-Large on ISSWSH’s Board of Directors and served on ISSWSH’s Membership Outreach, Online Services, and Education Committees. Dr. Scafuri, as a member of the Brazilian Society for the Study of Sexual Medicine and Health (ABEMSS), served on the Female Sexual Dysfunction Committee, and he served on the Communications Committee of ISSM and Social Media and Membership Committees of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America. His enthusiasm was absolutely contagious, and he will be greatly missed by all.

On behalf of ISSWSH, we want to express to his family, friends, and colleagues around the world, our deepest sadness at his tragic loss. Ariel touched many people and we are all better for having known him. His impact in the field of sexual health and medicine was significant, and for that we are so very grateful for his life and service.
