Fellowship

In keeping with the mission of ISSWSH, the board of directors has developed a fellowship program. Designation of ISSWSH Fellow (IF) signifies training in the interdisciplinary, collaborative management of Female Sexual Health within a clinical or research track. ISSWSH Fellowship is based on stringent and objective criteria as outlined below to determine both initial certification, renewal of certification and the grandfathering of fellows.

CRITERIA FOR APPLYING FOR ISSWSH FELLOWSHIP:
CANDIDATES:

  1. Must be a current Active Member of ISSWSH in good standing.
  2. ISSWSH membership dues must be current.

Please submit TWO statements/essays: Please do not simply list, copy and paste, your work and education histories, as the Fellowship Committee already requires an applicant's CV. This will delay your application process. These should be two statements/essays, not lists, developed within the parameters provided.

  1. Statement of Work in the field of female sexuality (2 pages maximum or 1000 words)
  2. Statement of education in human sexuality (1 page maximum or 500 words)

Please also submit:

  1. Copies of CME / CE certificates that total 75 credits
    This must include, at minimum: Two ISSWSH Training Courses or one ISSWSH Training Course and one ISSWSH Annual meeting within the last 3 years
  2. Statement attesting that the applicant has read, understands, and will uphold the ISSWSH bylaws
  3. Copy of current professional license in the specialty of designated
  4. Two letters of recommendation from ISSWSH Fellows in good standing*
  5. Curriculum Vitae, which must include your current employment

*In the event that an applicant does not know 2 current ISSWSH Fellows, a request can be made to the ISSWSH Fellowship Committee for a Fellow to contact an applicant via the following link: https://form.jotform.com/210334893863057. The designated Fellow will conduct an interview to better assess the applicant's goals pertaining to ISSWSH, why they ought to receive an IF designation, and their interest in mentorship. The Fellow will then submit this to the ISSWSH Office, which will replace the requirement of 1 letter of recommendation.

Initial Fellowship fee is USD 300.00

DURATION

The duration of the ISSWSH Fellowship (IF) status is for a 5-year term. After the 5-year period recertification is required. Active ISSWSH membership is required for the ISSWSH Fellowship (IF) certificate if the participant allows his or her ISSWSH membership to lapse, so too would the designation of ISSWSH Fellowship (IF).

REQUIREMENTS FOR ISSWSH FELLOWSHIP (IF) MAINTENANCE/RENEWAL

After the initial IF certification period of 5 years, an ISSWSH Fellow (IF) can maintain his/her fellowship by completion of 75 CME/CEs within the previous five-year period and reapplying to ISSWSH.

  • The 75 credits must be derived from at LEAST one ISSWSH Annual Meeting or one ISSWSH Training Course (or equivalent-authorized by Fellowship committee), within the previous 5 years.
  • A fellow is encouraged to participate in outreach that promotes the ISSWSH mission in the form of providing CME, public education or publications. Thus, fellows can receive 2-hour credit per occurrence by providing a copy of the conference schedule or letter of acknowledgement or publication.

All documentation as described above should be submitted AS the renewal application (there is no actual renewal form to fill out) along with proof of the required additional CME for a total of 75 hours. Furthermore, a copy of their current license and/ or certification relative to their designation should be submitted as well as a statement re-attesting that the applicant has read, understands and is upholding the current ISSWSH bylaws. The ISSWSH Membership fees are divided into three categories which are based on the World Bank Country Classification.

Individuals who are practicing therapists, basic researchers working in sexual health and related fields and other healthcare professionals such as, but not restricted to, nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, healthcare professionals in training and other healthcare students.

Individuals working in business, industries and other commercial entities affiliated with female sexual medicine and psychology. This membership has limited access to membership data.

Application for and annual renewal of student/resident membership must be accompanied by proof of current matriculation, preferrably on the institution's letterhead. Advocate Membership
Individuals with a special interest in women's sexual health advocacy, such as patient advocates, support group leaders, and fundraisers whose missions are consistent with that of the ISSWSH.

ISSWSH membership runs on a calendar year basis and is effective January 1 through December 31. Dues are NOT prorated.

ISSWSH members may opt in for ISSM membership as an affiliate society for an additional $125 (category A country) or $90 (category B country).

An important way to utilize this platform is to consult with colleagues on challenging cases or other concerns or questions you may have related to your practice. With an account in the ISSWSH Community Forum each member's profile and communication preferences are customizable.

  • Exclusive ISSWSH Trainee Group: This closed group within the Communtity Forum is exclusive to students, residents and fellows, and allows junior members to network, post and discuss educational questions and ask peer related professional advice.
Access to the Online Members Only Section

Your ISSWSH member ID number gives you access to the ISSWSH online member's only section. This section allows you to access your account, update your profile, search other members, and access resources available to members only. These resources include the ISSWSH Community Forum, Online Learning Modules through ISSM University, Clinical Pearls, Business Meeting information, membership survey data, ISSWSH presentation materials, access to discounted slide deck and other recommended resources.

ISSM University

Your ISSWSH membership includes access to ISSM University, the primary online educational resource in sexual medicine. ISSM University provides you with access to presentations, e-posters, literature reviews, case studies/discussions with experts, meeting webcasts, reports from the International Consultations on Sexual Medicine, and more.

Provider Directory

ISSWSH members whose professional activity is (partially) devoted to the practice of women’s sexual health and who see patients may be listed in the provider directory. The directory is available to the public who wish to search for a provider in their area.

Eligibility for ISSWSH Research Grants

Open to mentees of ISSWSH members, the ISSWSH Scholars in Women’s Sexual Health Research Grants Program provides funding for undergraduate, graduate or medical students, residents in graduate medical education training programs, and post-doctoral/post-residency fellows who are mentored by an ISSWSH member.

Eligibility for ISSWSH Fellowship

ISSWSH members who meet the eligibility criteria may apply for the ISSWSH Fellow designation (IF).  The IF designation signifies training in the interdisciplinary, collaborative management of female sexual health within a clinical or research track.



ISSM Membership

Enhance the value of your membership by also including membership to the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) for an additional $125 (category A countries) or $90 (category B countries).

ISSWSH members with joint ISSM membership will now have the following benefits:
