Join us to learn from our nationally-known instructors in the field of sexual health. Our faculty utilize a biopsychosocial framework to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary training for medical, mental health, and education professionals.

The Sexual Health Certificate Program offered by the University of Michigan School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education is a year-long postgraduate program that combines on-campus and web-based courses. The curriculum is based on the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT)* recommended standards of learning, constituting 135-195 hours of instruction, with a specialized values training called the Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR), and additional hours specific to sex therapy, sexuality counseling, and sexuality education.

The Sexuality Counseling track is primarily for healthcare professionals such as doctors, physician assistants, physical therapists, and nurse practitioners. Counseling track participants develop skills to effectively address the complexity of patient-reported sexual health concerns within medical settings. Former participants report increased referrals of patients with sexual difficulties and expanded roles within their clinics or agencies upon completion of the program.

Space is limited; interested professionals should register soon for the 2018 cohort, beginning April 20, 2018.
